This Wednesday founder Joanna Lin attended The Possibility Symposium, an event organized by Emerging Prairie recognizing and supporting social entrepreneurs. She had the chance to hear from 8 guest speakers who were nonprofit leaders, and learn about their inspiring missions and business models. Resonate also made multiple new connections with local founders!
Resonate had its very first Board of Directors meeting on Monday. The meeting featured introductions, an executive director report and outline, and an intense brainstorming session filled with new ideas and solutions. Furthermore, we discussed plans for the masterclass and Inspire Performance schedules for this school year. We are so proud and grateful to have our directors supporting Resonate and advocating for this organization in the community. Resonate is beyond excited to be an official charity with Giving Hearts Day! Sponsored by the Impact Foundation, “GHD is one of the most effective fundraising giving days in the country". In preparing for 24 hours of giving on February 13, 2020, Resonate will join charities in the region to participate in training workshops year round. In its first year, Resonate is excited to embark on achieving its goal of $8,000 raised on GHD. With this, Resonate would be one step closer to making music performance and education accessible to every single rural student.

A high-school student woodwind quartet, including the founder Joanna Lin on clarinet and Foreman native Eric Bergeman on flute, performed and presented about Resonate at the Kiwanis Club of Fargo's Tuesday luncheon. After playing Selections from the Carmen Suite, both Joanna and Eric spoke about the importance of Resonate's work. Special shout-out to Kiwanian Margie Bailly for helping set this up!
Resonate held its very 1st masterclass for 40 students at Northwood Public School. The performing group, a clarinet quartet from NDSU, performed a 20 minute concert program and then presented about their interpretation and nuances from the music. 1 in 2 students felt inspired to look for more music opportunities in their area and 3 in 4 learned something they had never learned before. Wow!
